Nighttime Landscape

Eleven and Twelve year olds really are very cool people to hang out with.  They're still kind of little kids, but they can do so much.
Every summer I get to do an art project with the middle schoolers at my church.  It reminds me of how much I loved teaching... and how glad I am to do it now one week each year instead of 36 weeks each year.
It was a pleasure to guide these guys through the process. They did a wonderful job with their nighttime landscapes.

Egyptian Pyramids & Palms

Painting with kids is...
Well... I sure don't want to do it full time, but what fun to get the opportunity to paint with kids once or twice a year. Funny how similar it is to painting with senior adults.  Both the preteen kiddos and the kiddos in their 70s and 80s are a little nervous, want to get it right, and have such a glow on their faces when they realize that their painting looks great.  (I know you can't see their faces in this photo.  You'll just have to trust me that they were glowing.)

*This project was done with the middle schoolers at my church during the time when we thought Covid was about gone and before Delta showed up.

Just for fun click around a little:

Apple Slices IV

These two beautiful young ladies used to be my students as fourth graders,  but soon they'll be off to middle school where I know they'll thrive.
I thought when I said goodbye to them on the last day of school we'd had our last lessons together, but no!  We spent an afternoon having an art lesson and each ended the day with a finished painting to be proud of.

Love these girls so!

And aren't their first paintings gorgeous!
