Thank you to Leeanne of Not Afraid of Color for reminding me to notice things I like.
I like City Park in New Orleans. I think it's the prettiest park I've ever walked through. |
I also like the tree across from my mailbox. Yes, I know I've taken and posted photos of it before. But, it's fabulous too. |
I like a warm fire on a cold day. |
I also like hot soup on a cold day. |
I like that our ornaments don't match and that our little ones keep adding more and more strings of beads. |
If you could eat only one type of cookie this holiday season, which cookie would you be eating a lot of?
What would be the ideal way for you to spend Christmas Eve? There would be a fire in the fireplace. I'd be preparing for tomorrow's meal. We'd have a relaxing day then go to Christmas Eve services in the evening.
How was Christmas done in your childhood home/family? The first ones up banged pots and pans to wake up the rest of the family. First we emptied our stockings. They would have and orange, some nuts, and candy. Next we'd settle down and listen to my dad read the Christmas Story from Luke 2 in the Bible. Next we'd pass our and open our gifts.
Did you ever receive a gift as a child/teen that you really wanted and were totally excited to receive? The best gift I remember was when I was in 8th grade. I got a brand new Stradivarius Bach trumpet. It was unexpected because I knew it was far beyond the normal budget for gifts in my family. I loved it played it about every day for the next 5 years.
That fire looks very inviting, since it's really cold here today. Yesterday it was 35 degrees in the morning, and by evening it was 11, but felt like -14. Bit chilly out there. Our family Christmases were similar (I was going to write a post, and forgot - maybe I'll sneak one in tomorrow.
ReplyDelete-14... I cannot even imagine!
DeleteThe stockings look so cheery by your fire! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd each little one knows exactly which one belongs to him/her!
DeleteLove your fire and your view across the street - I never tire of it. My childhood Christmases were very similar, except for the pot banging - we were very quiet - lol! But I still remember Daddy's dear voice reading the Christmas story, and yes, from Luke. Another thing in common - I played the cornet in band, while my husband played a trumpet. You must have been very good to deserve that trumpet. Hubs just told me his trumpet was not that one, but that he always preferred the Bach mouthpieces.
ReplyDeleteDid I ever post here about how upset my Daddy got when my husband (we started "dating" in 9th grade) wrote in my yearbook "You'd better start puckering up for something other than your cornet" and Daddy was horrified and scolded me for allowing it and said it wasn't appropriate? LOL!
Actually, yeah... I was a really good trumpet player; however, that was a lifetime ago. Seems like the yearbook comment worked out pretty well for you in the end!
DeleteHot soup on a cold day is the best! Everything cookies look interesting. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think it's the corn flakes that add something unexpected. And all everything that's yummy included as well.
DeleteYour bowl of soup looks perfect for a cold winter's day. After my bowl of your soup, I'd like a couple of those cookies, please. Lol!
ReplyDeleteThe only problem with having a couple of the cookies is that once they're gone, you think about having a third!
