This is another in the front near the mailbox. |
And we pass these when we go for a walk toward our neighbor's house. |
Today was windy, and the petals fell like giant snowflakes. |
The 10th painting I did after three months of lessons was of some blossoms from this very tree. (April 2007) |
I painted some of her blossoms again for my 300th painting. (May 2015) |
That is one hardy dogwood! They are so lovely even though the bloom season is fleeting. We have a crabapple that “snows” the same way. In fact, its varietal name is Spring Snow. I like looking at your paintings side by side to see how you interpreted the tree years (and experience) apart. Sitting on the porch enjoying the dogwood snow sounds like a perfect way to spend a day.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it's time to paint some dogwood flowers again soon.
DeleteYes, sitting on the porch and enjoying spring is a wonderful way to spend a day. I was a teacher for the last three decades or so, and do you know I don't think I ever truly appreciated spring. It was always just the season before summer, the weeks of school testing, the days of inside recess when it was rainy. I sure have enjoyed spring just for being spring this year.
So glad you kept the tree...its absolutely beautiful..colorful and VERY alive!!!! Have a wonderful day, Helen..
ReplyDeleteWe love it. It's kind of hollowed out and seems to get a little less solid each year, but here's to one more spring blooming!
