My Love & Ksses

Looks like I've flipped ahead on my calendar by a couple of months!
Is it ever too early for love & kisses though?

I have a reason for painting ahead of the season, and it goes along with some exciting news.

You know those times one event ties in to a completely unrelated event relates to another unrelated event then ties into yet another and so on and so on until the story becomes a saga... but then... then... it all ties together and comes full circle in the best way?
Well...
I had one of those a couple of weeks ago.
My exciting news is the end result of that full circle story.

My doctor asked me to hang my art on his exam room walls.  I know it's not a gallery in a museum, but oh my goodness, I am so excited!

There's that lag time after the nurse takes your blood pressure and gets your list of complaints that you're left alone in the room to sit and wait.... and now... to look to your left and see some paintings!
He gets a pretty wall.
I sell a painting every now and then.
Yeah! Win-win!
I had to gather up all the paintings I had around the house to see if I could find some that would go nicely together.  I had enough for a farm or country room and a winter or Christmas room.  (I also put the big hollyhock painting in the hall between them, but I forgot to take a photo of that one.)

So, now do you see why I'm painting a valentine?  In a month I'll need to trade out the Christmas-y ones.  (Although a more positive outlook would be that the Christmas paintings would have sold out and need to be replaced!)

Candy Kisses

Do you get a lot of kisses on Valentine's Day?

I do.  Teachers get more than our quota of chocolate at the Valentine's party.  I like chocolate, but I don't crave it like I know some people do.

Here's what I do with all the kisses I get.
 1st - Lay out a bunch of  Snyder's Snaps
(square waffle shaped) Pretzels on a cookie sheet.
2nd - Put an unwrapped Hershey's Kiss on each one.
3rd - Cook them about two minutes.
4th - Squash another Snaps on top of each melty Kiss.
5th - Put them on waxed paper in a plastic container.
6th - Keep them in the freezer.
7th - Enjoy one when you need a little sweet & salty bite.

Lots of Love & Kisses Reflected

What's the best thing about Valentine's Day?

Roses?  Cards?  Chocolates?  Dinner out?

I have a confession... I stick my thumb into the bottom of each little chocolate.  I know, yuck... but... I like to know what's what in that big red heart-shaped box!

Visit Etsy treasuries (collections of art pieces and vintage items) celebrating love, hugs, and kisses called Crash into Love Embrasse Moi or another called Things Symbolic of Valentine's Day for a reminder of all the favorite traditions.  It's a collection that will spur you on to get ready for that next special day!

Love & Kisses Reflected

Remember Valentine's Day when you were a kid?

I always get a kick out of watching my students at the school valentine party.  After they get settled with their treats, they open each little card.  The cards all kind of say the same thing, but they love them!  I just sort of walk around and listen.  "Ooo.. this one says love!" "Hey, nobody signed this one!  Who's it from?"  "I got three that are just alike!" They rip off any candy that has been taped on and throw away all the envelopes.  Then they put them all back into the valentine bag they've made.  I know they'll reread them, organize them, and put them in a special place at home.  Fun...
